Pablo Neruda - Patch Adams Poem Nopember 6, 2007

The poem used in the movie is by Pablo Neruda. It is Sonnet 17 of Neruda’s 100 Love Sonnets available in English translation by Stephen Tapscott. It is this translation that Patch reads in the movie. Here is the text of the poem in its entirety:
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms,
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

Gara-gara abis nonton film the perfect man….
There is someone out there which is perfect for you, yang pasti, when you meet it’s just feel complete no matter apa kekurangan yang ada pada dia dan ada pada kita.
Ngomong-ngomong soal beginian, jadi inget yang pernah dikasih tau sama siapa lupa….
Katanya…
Kita diciptakan berpasangan…yakin saja…dia sedang mencari kita dan kita pun mencarinya (kayak nasyidnya Brothers aja…ku mencari cari teman yang sejati guna menemani perjuangan ini )…hingga nanti saatnya tiba dan bertemu then it’s just click…then complete…seperti Adam dan Hawa yang ketika diturunkan ke bumi dipisahkan di dua tempat yang berbeda dan akhirnya bertemu di Jeddah…..seperti juga kita nantinya….(kayaknya sih begitu…)
